Securities and Exchange Commissioner Isaac C. Hunt, Jr. Dec. 7 led a cadre of top SEC officials who warned accounting professionals representing SEC-registered companies that they must measure up to the “critical responsibilities” they shoulder or face dire consequences.

“Specifically, I am concerned with the reliability and integrity of financial statements filed with the commission,” Hunt told participants at the 27th Annual American Institute of Certified Public Accountants National Conference on Current SEC Developments.
