Ten years after starting the Atlanta office of mega-firm Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue, Girard E. Boudreau Jr. is stepping aside as local managing partner. Boudreau’s replacement will be litigator George T. Manning of the 1,300-lawyer firm’s Washington, D.C., office. It’s not uncommon for Jones, Day to bring in outsiders to run local offices. When the firm acquired Atlanta’s Hansell & Post in 1989, Jones, Day’s then-overall managing partner, Richard W. Pogue, tapped Boudreau from the firm’s Los Angeles office for the new job. Manning also was part of the transition team, running the Atlanta office’s litigation group until 1990 as a Washington-Atlanta commuter. Now he’ll be here full time, running the firm’s 100-lawyer office When Manning takes over officially on Jan. 1, Boudreau will become special counsel to the firm, working on “firmwide projects, international and domestic.”
