To settle three class actions that alleged unlawful auto-related advertising levies on dealers, General Motors will reimburse all of its dealers $4 for every car sold since 1990 — which could set GM back hundreds of millions of dollars. Lawyers from nine firms that had brought the suits on behalf of dealers in Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Mississippi had asked a federal judge to award them more than $21 million in fees and expenses. Instead, they’ll have to settle for a mere $7.75 million. Still, that oughta be enough to pay for a celebratory round of Cadillacs.
