Attorney Jay D. Bennett first thought of piloting a plane one Sunday while trying to get to a hearing in Sylvester, Ga.

The options: a four hour drive from Atlanta to the Southern Georgia town, or an hour flight from Hartsfield-Atlanta International Airport to Tallahassee, Fla., and then a two-hour road trip in a rented car. Bennett chose neither.
