This is the story of a battle of two bands – a name game with a conspicuously modern twist.

It’s the tale of The Bouffants, a 10-member Memphis band that plays hits from the 1960s, and The Towering Bouffants, a D.C.-based girl group that “takes you to a time of bouffants and beehives, taffeta and sequins, the Watusi and the Pony,” according to the band’s Web site.
