A committee that is charged with the responsibility of investigating the qualifications of candidates for judicial office should be independent from outside influence, political or otherwise. On Nov. 1, the Board of Directors of the New York Women’s Bar Association withdrew the ratings of judicial candidates issued by the Judiciary Committee of the Association. In view of the Board’s action, the following members of the Judiciary Committee, who comprise 13 of its 15 members, have resigned from the Committee.
