What do Terry Gross, Howard Stern and Rush Limbaugh have in common with Morrison & Foerster’s Michael Jacobs? They all host their own radio program. While Jacobs’ show, “MoFo Talk Radio,” isn’t actually on the radio — it’s accessible only via the Internet and on tape cassettes — it has all the trappings of a professional production. The first show hit the Internet last week. It consists of seven segments during which Jacobs’ partners from various MoFo offices chat on topics such as what companies will survive in the Internet economy. “We wanted to portray the range of our experience, geographically and substantively,” Jacobs said. The show is intended both for clients and MoFo employees. Joseph Barbeau, a partner in MoFo’s Palo Alto office and a radio host, was a natural for the show. He hosted a program during his senior year of high school and throughout college. Barbeau noted that he recently got a call from someone who purchased an audiotape of a meeting where he had spoken. The listener is now a client. While the MoFo shows may not capture the 7 to 9 a.m. commuters, Barbeau said, they are “more lively than the usual 37-page memos” that lawyers issue.
