The state’s largest group of plaintiffs’ lawyers is pushing to resuscitate a bipartisan bill that would allow patients to sue health maintenance organizations for medical malpractice.
The action comes just as the House of Representatives has approved bipartisan legislation that would end the current federal pre-emption of suits against HMOs for wrongfully delaying or denying health care benefits.
