Ain’t life strange! One night you dress in drag for a Bette Midler concert and, boom, a few years later you’ve got your own off-Broadway gig.

That’s the situation two San Francisco lawyers and two of their buddies find themselves in. Last week, lawyers Benjamin Schatz and Irwin Keller — along with friends Chris Dilley and Maurice Kelly — signed a contract for a one-year run of their sassy, a cappella “beautyshop quartet” that has wowed audiences from S.F. to Lincoln, Neb., for nearly five years.
