Pittsburgh — Considering its theme — “Judge and Lawyers: What We Expect from Each Other” — it was no surprise that the 3rd Circuit Judicial Conference began with a bit of fireworks.

Lighting the fuse was attorney Alice W. Ballard, the final speaker on a six-member panel moderated by 3rd Circuit Chief Judge Edward R. Becker whose task was to describe what lawyers expect from judges.
