Texas Attorney General John Cornyn rejects a study that a government victory in a suit filed recently by the U.S. Justice Department against the tobacco industry could threaten Texas’ $17.3 billion settlement.

On Sept. 22, the Justice Department filed suit in Washington, D.C., federal court against the tobacco industry, seeking recovery of billions of dollars spent by the federal government on smoking-related health costs.
