New Jersey-based consulting firm Hildebrandt Inc. announced Wednesday that it plans to merge with a London-based competitor, Hodgart Consulting, on May 1. Alan Hodgart's firm, which employs nine consultants, is one of the better-known legal management consulting firms in London. After the merger, the firm will be called Hildebrandt International and will have 36 consultants in five offices. It is opening an office in New York City and has plans to open an office in Germany within the next year or two.

Carl Leonard, the firm’s director in San Francisco and the former chairman of Morrison & Foerster, said the merger will allow Hildebrandt to better serve law firms that are expanding abroad.
