Zack Exley entered the domain name game by chance. He was looking for George W. Bush’s presidential campaign Web site and guessed it might be “www.gwbush.com.” But when he typed the address into his browser, he found that the site didn’t exist.

That’s when Exley saw an opportunity. He registered the domain name with hopes of selling it to the Bush campaign for a couple of hundred dollars. But when Bush staffers found out about the site, they sent Exley a letter accusing him of copyright infringement and threatened to sue him if he didn’t shut it down immediately.
