Digital media management software maker Cinebase Inc. was founded in Los Angeles, but in 1996, just two years after starting, the company was forced to open an office in Redwood City.
The reason? Experienced Silicon Valley engineers refused to move to Southern California, leaving the company with no choice but to open a Bay Area satellite office.
