There comes the moment when every young attorney for the first time faces a jury or an impatient judge in a sidebar discussion and realizes that law school did not teach everything a lawyer needs to know in court.

To fill this real-world experience gap, the legal community in Allegheny County, Pa., has come up with Operation Experience, a program that will match novice attorneys with seasoned lawyers as they go about the business of litigating cases in the busy Civil Division of the Court of Common Pleas.
