Gun manufacturers have lost the first skirmish in their legal battlewith Miami-Dade County, which wants the companies to pay for costsrelated to gun violence.

U.S. District Judge Federico Moreno last week rebuffed themanufacturers’ effort to move the case to federal court, concludingthat the industry offered no valid reason for removing the massivelawsuit from state court, where it is now before Miami-Dade CircuitJudge Amy Dean.
