A local real estate broker has won a dispute against oil heir andArkansas Lt. Gov. Winthrop P. Rockefeller in a case that sends a signalabout brokers’ rights to collect money under exclusive listingagreements.

Rockefeller last year signed an exclusive listing agreement with JohnPaul Rosser of Miami’s Rosser & Associates to sell a 4-acre site alongthe Miami River. But after the land was sold to a company run bydevelopers Michael Swerdlow and John Abdo, Rockefeller paid a differentbroker and refused to pay Rosser a commission, saying he wasn’tentitled to payment under the contract.
