A surprising bit of legal news comes this week from the National Bar Association, which has passed a resolution asking Chief Justice William Rehnquist to refrain from singing “Dixie” at the Fourth Circuit conference in Virginia.
Justice Rehnquist has been leading the Fourth Circuit conference's sing-along for several years and, despite the fact that some lawyers have been avoiding the event because "Dixie" is included in the program, he's only just now found out that some people find the song offensive.
