The stock market’s summer doldrums have made the icing a little less sweet for Silicon Valley lawyers awaiting stock distributions from firm investment pools.

Lawyers at Cooley Godward, for example, are currently divvying up about $525,000 in Lycos Inc. stock that last month was worth $1.6 million when shares were trading at $107 each. Cooley ended up with Lycos stock because it had invested in Wired Online, which Lycos acquired. Lycos closed Thursday at $35 a share.
