Lawyers at Texas firm Whitehurst, Harkness & Ozmun aren’t happy. They obtained an order from 261st District Judge Lora Livingston temporarily enjoining San Antonio’s Alliance Media Group from distributing the Austin phone directory. The book contained what may be an attempt of a competitor to sabotage their firm by running ads featuring the words “Make Money the Easy Way” and “Easy Money!” under their law firm’s name. Bill Whitehurst, a former State Bar of Texas president, said the ad demeans the legal claims of his clients, many of whom have been seriously injured or had loved ones killed by negligent acts. Alliance Media Group’s representative met with Whitehurst and said that the ads may have been rigged by a competitor. Texas Lawyer July 26, 1999.
