A McKenna & Cuneo partner is trying to force the federal government to get rid of the red tape associated with its purchasing practices.

The partner, Robert Sherry, contends the effort will ease life for private companies, particularly those in high tech, and it may provide an additional benefit for his law firm: By taking on the government, McKenna hopes it can bolster its Silicon Valley business.
