A federal judge has declined to dismiss claims against New York City brought by a Danish couple arrested in 1997 for leaving their infant in a stroller on the sidewalk while they sat inside a Manhattan restaurant.

Southern District Judge Harold Baer Jr., in Sorenson v. New York City, rejected the City’s summary judgment motion for unlawful deprivation of custody of a child and other claims stemming from the controversial arrest of Anette Sorenson and Exavier Wardlaw.
