Donald Dunner, a name partner with one of the nation’s largest intellectual property firms and a close friend of the late Judge Giles Rich, is leading contender to fill Rich’s seat on the Federal Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.

Rich, one of the chief authors of the 1952 Patent Act, died last month at the age of 95. He had served on the Federal Circuit and its predecessor court since 1956.
