Despite years of physical abuse by her husband, Shennavia Dehaney stayed with him. Even after she was granted a protective order and filed for divorce from him in November 1995, the 22-year-old Hartford mother and her two small children joined Errol Dehaney for Thanksgiving dinner.

But what was to be a holiday family celebration turned into a tragedy. The couple argued, according to prosecutors. Then Errol Dehaney allegedly pulled a gun, shooting and killing his wife before aiming the bullets that took his children’s lives.
