The 11th Circuit turned down F. Lee Bailey’s bid to keep nearly $424,000 worth of legal-related expenses that arose from his representation of a drug dealer. Three years ago, Bailey said he had incurred more than $1.6 million worth of reimbursable expenses while defending Claude Louis Duboc and handling his assets after Duboc pleaded guilty to importing marijuana into the U.S. A judge, however, who said Bailey was entitled to only $1.2 million, ordered the lawyer to pay back the rest. While the appeals court wound up agreeing with the lower court, it held open the door for Bailey to recover at least some of the $1,000 he shelled out at Neiman Marcus for a suit that Duboc once wore to court.
