HUNT, GOVERNOR OF NORTH CAROLINA, et�al. v. CROMARTIE et�al.
Monday, the Supreme Court reversed a lower court's conclusion that North Carolina's 12th Congressional District was unlawfully drawn in 1997, making it harder for federal judges to strike down election districts as products of unlawful racial gerrymandering. The unanimous ruling in Hunt vs. Cromartie could have great influence on redistricting disputes nationwide after the 2000 census.
