The Conference Board, a global research and membership organization, has named Sophia A. Muirhead its general counsel and corporate secretary. Her responsibilities will include corporate matters and board processes for the trustees of the non-profit organization. Muirhead joined The Conference Board in 1998 as a senior research associate. During her career at the organization, she has identified, developed, managed and executed management research projects in ethics and compliance, marketing and finance, corporate citizenship and sustainability, and human resources. “We appreciate the many contributions Sophia has made in her career at The Conference Board,” Jon Spector, the organization’s chief executive officer, said in a news release. “Now, in her new role, I’m looking forward to working closely with her to build deeper relationships with the most senior executives around the world who are part of The Conference Board’s extended network.” Prior to joining The Conference Board, Muirhead was an attorney in private practice specializing in corporate and securities law. She received her law degree from Harvard Law School. The Conference Board creates and disseminates knowledge about management in the marketplace to help businesses strengthen their performance and better serve society. The organization also conducts conferences, makes forecasts and assesses trends, publishes information and analysis and brings executives together to learn from each other.
