Hunton & Williams energy and project finance partner G. Thomas West Jr. has moved to the firm’s Singapore office. West has more than a decade of experience working on power and infrastructure projects in Africa plus Asian market experience. The Richmond, Va.-based Hunton & Williams hopes to capitalize on West’s experience as trade between the two continents grows. Asia and India, in particular, need energy, natural resources and raw materials to support growth in manufacturing, West said. “My relocation to Singapore allows me to better serve the clients and markets that I have been advising for more than 15 years,” West said. West’s clients include the governments of Nigeria, Tanzania, Mozambique and Pakistan, which have infrastructure projects to support private sector power generation expansion projects. West also has experience in energy restructuring projects in the U.S., Uganda, Egypt, India, Bangladesh, The Philippines, Thailand, Bulgaria and Sri Lanka. Singapore is an important bridge the firm’s Asian clients seeking access to the African energy market, said Hunton & Williams’ managing partner Walfrido J. “Wally” Martinez. “Tom’s move to Singapore is key to expanding our activity in that market,” Martinez said.
