New York’s Dewey & LeBoeuf has announced the arrival of Michel Qur as partner and head of the Paris banking and finance practice. “My decision to join Dewey & LeBoeuf was based on the firm’s strategy and the desire to provide my clients with a global response to their issues, using the law to create value,” Qur said in a news release. Qur headed the finance group at his former firm, London’s Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, from 2000 to 2006. His practice covers acquisition financing, leverage financing, debt restructuring, private equity, structured financing and asset financing. His clients include financial institutions, arrangers, investment funds and French and international companies. In France, Yves Huygh de Mahenge, who joined the firm as managing partner of the Paris office, has announced his retirement. He plans to finish his book on the profession of the international lawyer and pursue activities with the University of Aix-Marseille and associations with which he works. Eric Schwartz will take on the role of managing partner of the Paris office. He joined Dewey LeBoeuf in 2006 after nearly ten years at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and is currently co-head of the firm’s international arbitration group. Dewey & LeBoeuf has more than 1,400 lawyers in 27 offices.
