Attorney General Michael Mukasey says he’s worried about going before the Supreme Court — for the first time — on March 25 to argue the so-called “millenium bomber” case of United States v. Ahmed Ressam. Mukasey says it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that he could not pass up. Mukasey admits, though, he is concerned about his performance and has gone through two moot courts to prepare. “Am I nervous? Yes,” Mukasey explained to reporters at Main Justice on Friday. The case involves explosives found in Ressam’s car that added 10 years to his sentence. Mukasey poked fun at himself, saying lawyers who appeared before him when he was a district judge and chief judge in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York probably would be lining up for tickets to see him argue.
