To the editor: Legal Times might as well be called the Obama Times. First, the Page 1 “Backing Barack” story [March 10] focused on Sen. Barack Obama’s success with D.C. lawyer fund-raising and endorsements, even though an accompanying table showed that Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign had been more successful in raising funds from the biggest D.C. firms. Then the Points of View section in the same issue featured a two-page polemic by Susan Lehman ["Hillary's Business," Page 42] challenging not just Sen. Clinton but implicitly, by choice of anecdotes and words (Professor Deborah Tannen, where are you?), any woman daring to practice corporate law. The essay was excerpted from a collection of 30 reflections of women writers on Clinton, but you chose to publish just one. Clinton and Obama — both of whom would make great presidents — deserve more balanced treatment from one of the country’s leading legal periodicals. Daniel R. Barney Washington, D.C.
