Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney added two Saul Ewing securities attorneys to its stable after picking up two real estate partners from the Philadelphia-based firm earlier this week. On Feb. 21, Buchanan Ingersoll announced that the former co-chair of Saul Ewing’s securities litigation practice group, William W. Uchimoto, has joined the firm as a shareholder. Uchimoto and James M. Connolly, who joined as an associate, are in Buchanan Ingersoll’s corporate finance & technology practice group. Both attorneys will practice in the Philadelphia office of Pittsburgh, Pa.-based Buchanan Ingersoll. On Feb. 19, Buchanan Ingersoll announced two other hires from Philadelphia’s Saul Ewing. Stuart B. Dember and Henry Kent-Smith, who were formerly Saul Ewing partners, joined Buchanan Ingersoll’s Princeton, N.J., office as shareholders in the real estate practice. Before his tenure at Saul Ewing, Uchimoto worked for the U.S. the Securities and Exchange Commission for more than five years and spent more than a decade as general counsel for the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. Both attorneys represent companies, broker-dealers, investment advisors and securities exchanges facing regulatory and enforcement issues. “We have been growing our office and firm by hiring experienced attorneys in strategic practice areas,” stated Howard Scher, managing shareholder of Buchanan Ingersoll’s Philadelphia office. “Bill and Jim have such strong reputations in this region for their securities regulation and compliance work that it was clear to us they’d be a good fit for our firm.”
