Fenwick & West, based in Mountain View, Calif., has opened a Seattle office with the addition of three corporate partners to its life sciences practice. The three partners, Steve Graham, Roger Tolbert and Alan C. Smith, are former partners of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. Graham will head the Seattle office and become co-chairman of the firm’s life sciences group. He specializes in corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, internal and audit committee investigations, securities offerings, investment banks, emerging companies, venture capital and strategic investments. His clients include the former Immunex Corp. and WatchGuard Technologies Inc. Tolbert, a licensing attorney, focuses on life sciences, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and strategic investments. And Smith focuses on emerging companies, public companies, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets offerings, venture capital and strategic investments. His venture capital clients include Clarus Ventures, Frazier Healthcare Ventures, Madrona Venture Group, MPM Capital, Rustic Canyon Ventures and Voyager Capital. The firm plans to have up to 30 lawyers in the Seattle office in the next few years. In addition to Silicon Valley, Fenwick & West has offices in San Francisco and Boise, Idaho.
