Our reporting for this special section on litigation began with a simple question: What are some of the biggest cases that Washington law offices are currently working on? A simple question to ask, perhaps, but one that yielded an array of complex answers. As our reporters hit the pavement to gather facts, they captured information on so many interesting and complex cases that we couldn’t possibly feature them all. So we narrowed the field to five cases that we think are among the most interesting. They feature top litigators, major stakes, and challenging — and sometimes groundbreaking — legal questions. We have tried here to cover the field: Bankruptcy, white-collar crime, constitutional questions, and antitrust cases are all represented. We’ve even tackled cases that sparked a media frenzy: the ongoing issues surrounding the Duke University lacrosse team. As always, we want to hear from readers. If you have big litigation to report, please let us know at editorial@legaltimes.com. — David Brown
