Elected and Appointed Nadeem A. Bezar of Kolsby Gordon Robin Shore & Bezarhas been named co-chairman of the state civil litigation section of the Philadelphia Bar Association. The section’s purpose is to advance the development and study of the law by suggesting improvements in applicable laws, practices and procedures. The section oversees several civil litigation committees.     Michael L. Kleiman, a founding member of Bleczinski Kleiman & Klein, has been appointed secretary of the Montgomery Bar Association‘s family law section. Kleiman focuses his practice on all areas of family law.     Rick Lowe, a partner at Duane Morrisand a member of its trial practice and construction industry groups, has been named vice chairman of the Associated General Contractors of America’scontract documents committee. Lowe focuses his practice on construction law and commercial litigation. He handles construction law matters � including litigation, mediation and arbitration � and has drawn up design and construction contracts for projects exceeding $100 million.     John F. Smith III, a partner at Reed Smith, has been elected vice chairman of the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that promotes sound public policy and regional prosperity. Smith currently is chairman of the board of trustees of International House Philadelphia, a position he has held for three years. He is a former director of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphiaand a founding member and past president of the Philadelphia Chamber Ensemble. In addition to his commercial law practice, Smith has been the chancellor of Reed Smith Universitysince 2004, a firmwide initiative of professional development and continuing education developed in conjunction with the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Smith previously served for 11 years as a member of Reed Smith’s executive committee.     Kevin Casey, a partner with Stradley Ronon Stevens & Youngand co-chairman of its alternative dispute resolution practice group, was selected as a member of the panel of neutrals for the International Trademark Association. The panel is an international group of neutral mediators who are experts in trademark and unfair competition law and have been trained in mediating disputes. As chairman of the firm’s intellectual property practice group, Casey has more than 20 years of experience in all aspects of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and related matters. He is ranked as one of the leading IP attorneys in Pennsylvania by America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, The Client’s Guide, has authored numerous papers on IP issues and teaches IP courses at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law as an adjunct professor.   Announcement Ralph G. Wellington , chairman of Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis, took part Jan. 22 in the Centennial Year Launch Event for the Settlement Music School. The event featured actor Kevin Bacon and his brother, film score composer and musician Michael Bacon, announcing the final group of the “Settlement 100,” a roster of 100 individuals whose experiences at Settlement Music School helped shape their lives. Wellington served on the committee to select the individuals who made up the group. Schnader Harrison is a sponsor of Settlement’s Centennial Year Gala, planned for May 3. �
