AMERICAN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW ASSOCIATION Tom Schaumberg has been appointed chairman of the International Trade Commission Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Schaumberg is a partner at the Washington firm Adduci, Mastriani & Schaumberg.
COOLEY GODWARD KRONISH Cooley Godward Kronish has promoted two attorneys. Joe Conroy has been named CEO of Cooley Godward Kronish. He was previously partner in charge of the firm’s Reston, Va., office. Frank Pietrantonio has been named partner in charge of Cooley’s Reston, Va., office. Pietrantonio heads the firmwide intellectual property practice.
FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION Thomas Leary has received the 2007 Miles Kirkpatrick Award from the Federal Trade Commission. The accolade recognizes individuals whose careers have contributed to the FTC. Leary, who served as an FTC commissioner, is currently of counsel in the Washington office of Hogan & Hartson.
GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY LAW REVIEW George Mason University Law Review has established a writing award in honor of Arthur Schmalz. The award was named for Schmalz to recognize his involvement in maintaining the Law Review as a student-run publication. Schmalz is a partner in Hunton & Williams’ McLean, Va., office.
STAKEHOLDER 100 Albert Sanders Jr. and Kwamina Williford were selected to participate in the Stakeholder 100 leadership training program. The program recruits young attorneys of color for its training course. Sanders is an associate in the D.C. office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.
