WASHINGTON — Autumn turnover in the Office of the Solicitor General of the United States continues with the departure of Assistant to the Solicitor General David B. Salmons who will become a partner in the D.C. office of Bingham McCutchen. Salmons, who argued 13 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court in the last six years, will add to the firm’s appellate practice. He joins a group of partners in Bingham’s national litigation practice who work in state and federal appellate courts throughout the country. “David has exceptional experience on the highest of appellate courts and is a key addition to our already-deep litigation resources,” said Washington partner Barry Direnfeld, who co-manages the D.C. Office with Neal Sullivan. Besides his high court experience, Salmons has appeared numerous times in the lower appellate courts on a wide range of commercial, civil rights and constitutional issues. He received the U.S. Department of Justice’s highest award for excellence in appellate litigation, the John Marshall Award. Salmons said he was attracted to Bingham McCutchen because of the depth and diversity of its litigation practice at home and abroad and its ability to integrate lawyers from both private practice and senior governmental positions. He is a 1996 graduate of the University of Chicago School of Law.
