CLEARY GOTTLIEB STEEN & HAMILTON Three associates have been elected to partner, and one senior attorney has been elected to counsel in Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton’s Washington office. Leah Brannon, 32, will be a partner in the antitrust and appellate practices. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School. Jeremy Calsyn, 34, will be a partner in the antitrust practice. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Shawn Chen, 35, will be a partner in the securities litigation practice. He received his J.D. from Yale Law School. Joyce McCarty, 57, will become counsel. She focuses on corporate and financial transactions. McCarty earned her J.D. from the University of Hawaii, William S. Richardson School of Law.
COVINGTON & BURLING Simone Ross, 41, has joined Covington & Burling as of counsel in the firm’s Washington white-collar defense and investigations group. She was most recently an assistant counsel in the Justice Department’s Office of Professional Responsibility. Ross was also formerly an associate at Covington. She received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
GENERAL COUNSEL Keith Blankenship, 27, has joined General Counsel in McLean, Va., as a partner in the firm’s intellectual property practice. Blankenship previously owned his own IP firm in Falls Church, Va., Blankenship Law. He will now lead General Counsel’s IP group. Blankenship earned his J.D. from the Franklin Pierce Law Center.
GIBSON, DUNN & CRUTCHER Four associates have been elected to partner in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s Washington office, effective Jan. 1. Anne Benedict, 34, belongs to the capital markets, corporate transactions, and mergers and acquisitions practices. Benedict earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Joshua Lipton, 35, practices in the antitrust and trade regulation group. Lipton received his J.D. from the University of Michigan School of Law. Michael Murphy, 36, belongs to the environmental and natural resources practice, and the government and commercial contracts practice. Murphy earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. C. William Thomas Jr., 37, practices in the capital markets, corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity groups. Thomas received his J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Alyssa Sandrowitz, 30, is in the mechanical group. Sandrowitz was previously a student associate at Sterne, Kessler. She earned her J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law. Peter Socarras, 27, is in the mechanical group. He was previously a student associate at Sterne, Kessler. Socarras earned his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.
