Chicago Drinker Biddle & Reath will absorb Connelly Sheehan Harris, a 13-lawyer Chicago employment litigation firm, in February as part of its expansion of the firm’s office in that city and its labor and employment practice, the firm said in a release. After the merger, the firm will have about 75 lawyers nationwide working on labor and employment issues, including litigation-related matters, and 160 in the Chicago office, the firm said. Drinker Biddle is bringing on four of the attorneys, Michael Sheehan, Martin Harris, Rachel Cowen and Kristine Aubin as partners; three of the lawyers as counsel; and six as associates. “It’s really a continuation of our strategy to expand our litigation presence in this office,” said Edwin A. Getz, the regional partner in charge of the Chicago office. The expansion comes about a year after Drinker Biddle moved into the Chicago market by merging with Gardner Carton & Douglas and a month after it brought in three partners to the office from Mayer Brown who joined its securities litigation practice. The firm now has about 650 attorneys in 12 offices, up from 640 in January.
