Orange County, Calif.-based intellectual property firm Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear has opened a D.C. office. It is the 211-lawyer firm’s first office outside California. Litigation partner William Zimmerman, who relocated this month from Orange County, will be managing partner of the D.C. outpost. Three or four Orange County associates are expected to join him, he says. The firm also brought on partner Donald Min, formerly with the D.C. office of Min, Hsieh & Hack, now called MH2 Technology Law Group. Min focuses on high-tech electrical prosecution. “It allows us to capture qualified recruits who want to stay on the East Coast that we were traditionally losing,” Zimmerman says. He says the plan is to grow to between 10 and 15 lawyers in the next year.
