Joseph D. Harbaugh, dean of the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Fla., is stepping down after 13 years. Harbaugh, 68, announced earlier this month that his resignation is effective June 30, 2008. He will become a law professor at the school. “We accomplished a lot,” he said. “It’s time for someone to come in with new ideas.” The university president just named a search committee to replace Harbaugh. Harbaugh previously served as dean of the University of Richmond School of Law in Virginia for eight years, and taught at the University of Connecticut and Duke, Temple, Georgetown and American Universities. He is known for his innovations with the use of computer technology and for making sure an evening law program at NSU catered to working professionals. The president of Nova just appointed a search committee to find a replacement for Harbaugh.
