In a decision that astounded his defense team and a courtroom full of observers, Gregory Reyes, the former CEO of Brocade Communications, was convicted Tuesday on 10 felony counts relating to the backdating of stock options.

After six days of deliberations, 10 consecutive guilty verdicts were read. Reyes’ wife sobbed, the defendant and his lawyer — Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom partner Richard Marmaro — slumped in their seats, and at least two jurors wept. On their way out of the federal building, the jurors declined to answer questions.
