David S. Walker will step down as dean of Drake University Law School at the end of the 2007-2008 academic year. He has been dean since 2003 and previously served in the position from 1987 to 1996. Walker will take a year-long sabbatical following his departure and then will return as a member of the faculty. During his second tenure as dean, Walker oversaw a 150% increase in alumni giving and the addition of six new faculty members, including two endowed chair positions, the James Madison Chair in Constitutional Law and the recently established Kern Family Chair in Intellectual Property. Walker joined Drake in 1975 and specializes in corporate and business law. Drake will conduct a national search for a new dean, hoping to have the position filled by June 1, 2008.
