President Bush sent four judicial nominations for the U.S. Court of Appeals to the Senate on Tuesday. Chief Judge Robert J. Conrad Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina was nominated to the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Catharina Haynes, a former state judge who currently works in the litigation department of Baker Botts in Dallas, was nominated to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Shalom David Stone, a partner in the Newark, N.J., office of Walder, Hayden & Brogen, was nominated to the 3d U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, replacing now-Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr. Judge John Daniel Tinder, who has been with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana since 1987, was nominated to the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
