Partisan Political Commentary? To the Editor: I was most disturbed to read your “Yea” in the June 18, 2007, issue in which you endorse the refusal of the trial court to delay the prison sentence of Scooter Libby. I expected to see arguments concerning the need to treat all defendants equally, to provide an orderly administration of justice, etc. But no, instead you retreated to a political argument which had nothing to do with the proper administration of justice or what was fair and reasonable for the defendant. Instead, it appears to be a blatantly political argument to force President Bush to decide on a pardon to put him in “a difficult position.” What does that have to do with the administration of justice? Or is it simply a partisan political commentary? Gary R. Rice Law Office of Gary Rice Dallas
