Axinn, Veltrop & Harkrider of Hartford, Conn., added two intellectual property litigation partners to its growing intellectual property and biomedical practice groups from Day Pitney’s Hartford office. Francis H. Morrison III and Matthew J. Becker are prominent additions to a practice that has more than doubled in size over the past year, moving Axinn Veltrop to the leading ranks of IP practices in the country, according to a statement the firm issued June 5. Morrison tries intellectual property, products liability and other complex litigation matters, particularly those involving technical subjects. He has tried more than 50 cases to verdict and judgment in state and federal courts. He has represented institutional and corporate clients in connection with claims concerning patent and trade secret misappropriation, pharmaceuticals, aviation, medical devices, insurance and manufacturing in high stakes litigation throughout the United States. Becker’s practice focuses on intellectual property litigation, commercial litigation involving complex technologies, and intellectual property analysis and counseling. He has served as lead counsel in significant patent infringement lawsuits, disputes concerning patent inventorship and ownership, claims of breach of license agreements, trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract and business torts. Axinn Veltrop represents clients seeking to enforce intellectual property rights and to avoid and defend against charges of infringement and misappropriation. Its clients include pharmaceuticals, chemicals, tools and hardware, sporting goods, mechanical equipment, electrical products and consumer goods companies.
