San Diego employment lawyer George S. Howard, Jr. jumped to Jones Day as a partner in its labor and employment practice after eight years with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. His move boosts Jones Day’s growing San Diego profile, which now includes 30 lawyers, patent agents and support staff, according to the firm. Jones day has 30 offices and 2,200 lawyers worldwide. Howard, a contributing editor of The Rutter Group’s California Employment Practice Guide, has significant litigation and union management relations experience in health care, life sciences, technology, retail and travel industries, according to Jones Day. Howard is immediate past president of the Employers Group Legal Committee, a group of 16 California lawyers who represent employer interests in appeals on significant employment cases in the state. “George is an accomplished labor lawyer and has a terrific reputation here in San Diego with corporate counsel and other members of the legal and business communities, said Anthony M. Insogna, partner-in-charge of Jones Day’s San Diego office. Prior to his stint with Pillsbury, Howard was chair of the labor and employment practice at San Diego’s Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps.
