The Newark, N.J., bankruptcy court is no stranger to sensational filings (think NJ Affordable Homes Corp. and Allserve Systems Corp.), so the tale that landed Avant Interactive Inc. before Judge Novalyn L. Winfield earlier this month seems right at home.

Avant’s filing in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey earlier this month tells a story of an unsolved murder, more than $700,000 lost in family investments, a mysterious strike of lightning and software wiping programs, all tied together in a scheme to steal trade secrets.
