SAN FRANCISCO Darren Gardner and Dominic Hodson have joined Seyfarth Shaw as partners. Both attorneys, who come to the firm from Minter Ellison, specialize in assisting multinational companies with employment and labor issues outside of the United States. Gardner, who also spends time in the Los Angeles office, graduated from the University of New South Wales Faculty of Law in Sydney in 1995. Hodson is a 1997 graduate of University of Sydney Law School. Paul Gutierrez has become a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Gutierrez, who is of counsel at Gutierrez Ruiz, focuses his practice on labor and employment, construction, real estate, product liability and commercial litigation. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1975. Squire, Sanders & Dempsey has elevated Mark Lupkowski to partner. Lupkowski, who joined the firm in 2004, is a member of the intellectual property practice. He received his J.D. from University of Texas School of Law in 1999. NORTH BAY Sonoma County Chief Deputy District Attorney Diana Gomez has been promoted to assistant DA. Gomez, who joined the DA’s office in 2003, will oversee criminal trial departments. She graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1986. SILICON VALLEY Partner Terrence “Terry” McMahon has been selected to lead McDermott, Will & Emery’s intellectual property, media and technology department. McMahon, who joined the firm in 2001, is a 1976 graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law. EAST BAY Walnut Creek-based Archer Norris has elected Lee Archer to a third two-year term as managing partner. Eugene Blackard Jr. and W. Eric Blumhardt were also re-elected to two-year terms on the management committee, which also includes Richard Norris and William Staples. Archer defends complex litigation in suits involving claims of medical malpractice, product liability, strict liability for developers and general litigation. He graduated from Hastings College of the Law in 1966. Blackard defends contractors and manufacturers in cases concerning complex multiparty environmental tort litigation, products liability, premises liability, and claims stemming from the Americans With Disabilities Act. He is a 1989 graduate of University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law. Blumhardt focuses on insurance coverage and bad-faith litigation. He received his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law in 1983. Norris focuses his practice on complex transactions in real estate, solid waste, environmental and corporate law. He graduated from Hastings College of the Law in 1977. Staples’ practice includes employment, products liability, construction disputes/defects, insurance bad faith, public entity, toxic torts and commercial litigation. He is a 1975 graduate of University of San Francisco School of Law. SACRAMENTO Mary Antoine has been named firmwide assistant managing partner of Nossaman Guthner Knox & Elliott. She is the first woman at the firm to hold the position. Antoine, who joined Nossaman in 1998, focuses her practice on health care, emphasizing hospital, HMO and medical staff representation. She graduated from University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law in 1983. Annie Amaral and Danielle Stephens joined Downey Brand as associates. Amaral is a member of the litigation practice. Amaral previously served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Garland Burrell Jr. of the Eastern District of California. She received her J.D. from University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law in 2005. Stephens, who comes to the firm from Boutin Dentino Gibson Di Giusto Hodell, is a member of the real estate practice. She graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2004.
