SAN FRANCISCO Legal Services for Children recently honored Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold with its Pro Bono Partner Award. In addition, Lauren Barnes and Rebecca Biernat, two of the firm’s associates in the S.F. office, received LSC’s Pro Bono Advocate Awards. Barnes focuses her practice on bankruptcy and creditor’s rights and commercial practices. She is a 2004 graduate of University of San Francisco School of Law. Biernat focuses her practice on environmental and toxic tort, mass tort and complex litigation, and products liability. She graduated from Hastings College of the Law in 1998. Steven Machtinger has joined Bingham McCutchen as a securities litigation partner. Machtinger previously served as senior vice president and associate general counsel at JPMorgan Chase & Co. He received his J.D. from UC-Davis’ King Hall School of Law in 1974. SILICON VALLEY Joshua Walsh-Benson has joined the intellectual property litigation group as an associate in Dechert’s Palo Alto office. Walsh-Benson, who was previously with Shearman & Sterling, will focus his practice on patent litigation, including the International Trade Commission. He received his J.D. from UC-Davis’ King Hall School of Law in 2003. SACRAMENTO Olson Hagel & Fishburn has added William Tunick as an associate in the litigation unit. Tunick previously served as a law clerk for the firm. He is a 2006 graduate of UC-Davis’ King Hall School of Law. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Michelle Hribar, Hengameh Safaei, Rushika Kumararatne, Joseph Larsen, Glen Worthington and Stephanie Villasenor have joined Rutan & Tucker as associates in the Orange County office. All six attorneys graduated from law school in 2006. Hribar and Safaei are members of the trial section. Hribar graduated from Chapman University School of Law, while Safaei is a graduate of Hastings College of the Law. Kumararatne is a member of the corporate and securities section. She graduated from Georgetown University Law Center. Larsen and Worthington are members of the public law section. Larsen graduated from Ohio State University’s Michael E. Moritz College of Law, while Worthington is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center. Villasenor is a member of the employment/labor law section. She graduated from Stanford Law School. Shane Hunter has joined Townsend and Townsend and Crew as a partner in the San Diego office. Hunter, who started his career at Townsend in 1996, is returning to the firm from the Boston office of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo. A member of the electronics and software practice group, he is a 1996 graduate of UCLA School of Law. Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis has added Josefina Fernandez McEvoy as a partner in the Los Angeles office. McEvoy, who comes to the firm from Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, is a member of the bankruptcy and insolvency practice. She graduated form Temple University Beasley School of Law in 1989. Former Drinker Biddle & Reath attorneys Thomas Moore and Ronald Labriola have opened their own firm in Newport Beach. Moore Labriola focuses on the representation of plaintiffs in complex litigation matters, coordinated mass tort proceedings and consumer fraud and false advertising actions. Moore is a 1984 graduate of UC-Davis’ King Hall School of Law, while Labriola graduated from Loyola Law School in 1992. David Tamman has joined Nixon Peabody’s L.A. office as a partner in the business practice. Tamman, who was previously with Liner Yankelevitz Sunshine & Regenstreif, focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, securities and general corporate law. He received his J.D. from University of Southern California Law School in 1994. Professional Announcements Loeb & Loeb has added James Williams as a partner in the L.A. office. Williams, who was previously with Davis, Shapiro, Lewit & Hayes, focuses on corporate and intellectual property matters, with expertise in the fashion and apparel industry. He is a 1999 graduate of Southwestern University School of Law.
